As a photographer and filmmaker, Ashima’s journey in the field has been nothing short of astounding. Starting as a glamour and fashion photographer, she soon diversified into photojournalism, capturing images of people, places and events that resonated with her. Her photos have featured in many prominent publications, including National Geographic Traveller, Vanity Fair, Vogue, GQ, Elle and Marie Claire. Her foray into filmmaking was also equally well received, with Discovery channel airing her work.
She has twice been nominated for a Green Oscar, been the recipient of the Ramnath Goenka Nature & Environment Photographer and the Commonwealth Photographer for South Asia, and has been listed by time.com as one of 34 women photographers from around the world to follow. She was also one of 19 photographers from 15 countries chosen to create imagery for Disney Worldwide Service’s Dream Big Princess campaign, to raise $1 million for the United Nations Foundation’s Girl Up leadership programme.
